Radiological report

The cardiac silhouette appears enlarged, although its morphological assessment is limited by the superimposition of the mass on the lateral views and by the displacement of the heart towards the left hemithorax (sign of displacement of the mediastinum), which is visible on the dorsoventral view. The cranial and caudal lobar veins appear enlarged, which suggests venous vascular congestion. These findings are compatible with cardiomegaly and left cardiac failure.

Computed tomography was recommended in order to evaluate these findings with more precision and assess the possible presence of small-sized pulmonary metastases not visible on the radiographs. The results confirmed the radiological findings, the size and location of the bone lesion and soft-tissue mass were more accurately assessed and a metastatic infiltration of the pleura or lung was ruled out. Signs of incipient perihilar pulmonary oedema, which suggests cardiogenic oedema at an initial stage, were also detected.
