Radiological report

Radiograph of the abdomen in right lateral projection.

A soft-tissue opacity shadow is observed, with a round morphology and a diameter of approximately 2.5 vertebral bodies, located in the dorsal area of the mid-abdomen. Its location and the fact that it has caused the displacement of the adjacent intestinal loops in ventral direction suggest that this mass is most likely of mesenteric or glandular origin. However, other possibilities, such as an intestinal mass (unlikely, as there are no signs of associated intestinal obstruction) or splenic mass (if it were a mass in the caudal area of the tail of the spleen), also have to be considered. In the case of a female, the possibility of an ovarian mass should be included in the differential diagnosis.

Metallic surgical staples visible in cranial abdomen.
